Quick Start
Choose an installation method and get AirTrail running.
AirTrail runs as two containers: the app and a PostgreSQL database. Most people run it with Docker Compose on a Linux server, NAS or Raspberry Pi. Check the requirements first.
Choose how to install
Docker Compose
Recommended. Two files and one command on any machine with Docker.
One-click
Deploy on Railway, or run the install script on a Linux or macOS host.
Portainer
Deploy the Compose stack from Portainer's web interface.
Synology NAS
Run AirTrail in Container Manager on a Synology NAS.
Unraid
Add AirTrail and its database from Unraid templates.
Manual
Build and run AirTrail from source, without Docker.
The short version
On a machine with Docker and Docker Compose v2:
mkdir airtrail && cd airtrail
wget -O docker-compose.yml https://raw.githubusercontent.com/JohanOhly/AirTrail/main/docker/production/compose.yml
wget -O .env https://raw.githubusercontent.com/JohanOhly/AirTrail/main/.env.exampleEdit .env: set ORIGIN to the URL you will open AirTrail at, and change DB_PASSWORD together with the password inside DB_URL. Then start it:
docker compose up -dOpen the URL from ORIGIN and follow the post-installation steps. The Docker Compose guide explains each step in detail.
Before you open it to the internet
- Put AirTrail behind a reverse proxy with HTTPS.
- Set up backups of the database and uploads.
