Install

Synology NAS

Run AirTrail in Container Manager on a Synology NAS.

AirTrail runs on Synology NAS models that support Container Manager (DSM 7.2 and later). The image is available for both Intel/AMD (x86-64) and ARM64 models.

Create the project

In File Station, create a folder for AirTrail, for example docker/airtrail, with a data/uploads folder inside it.

Download compose.yml and .env.example. Save them in that folder as docker-compose.yml and .env, and edit .env as described in the Docker Compose guide.

In Container Manager → Project, click Create, choose the folder, and select Use existing docker-compose.yml. Finish the wizard to build and start the project.

Open http://<nas-address>:3000 (or the URL in ORIGIN) and follow the post-installation steps.

Things to watch

  • Port 3000 in use: change the left side of the ports entry, for example 3010:3000, and update ORIGIN to match.
  • Uploads permissions: if you bind-mount data/uploads instead of using the named volume, set PUID and PGID in .env to your DSM user's IDs so the files stay yours. See Uploads and file permissions.
  • HTTPS: DSM's built-in reverse proxy (Control Panel → Login Portal → Advanced → Reverse Proxy) can publish AirTrail over HTTPS. Then follow the reverse proxy guide for ORIGIN and ADDRESS_HEADER.
